University Centre Blackburn has set up a forum to look at the under representation of Bangladeshi and Pakistani women in the workplace and in business in the Blackburn/Darwen area. Lancashire BME Pact is supporting University Centre Blackburn by being a member of the forum and offering skills and knowledge relevant to the subject.
The forum is looking at reaching parents of young women in college and university to highlight the career opportunities open to them after completing their studies which are ‘culturally’ and ‘family friendly’.
The forum has agreed that a pilot will be carried out in the Burnley area focussing on an ethnically diverse school in the area. The forum has also established sub groups to plan the content of the programme to be delivered and the launch event to be held in the next few months.
We will keep you informed on further developments with this project.
If anyone would like to know more about the project or support it, please contact Jabien at Lancashire BME Pact.
