BME Pact - Cultural Evening 2003

welcome dance - GHSLancashire BME PACT's first Cultural Evening took place on 21st September 2003 at the Ballroom, Accrington Town Hall.

The cultural event was the first BME Pact event to celebrate the diversity of culture within Lancashire. Over 100 people attended from voluntary and statutory organisations within the county. They were given a warm welcome from Chair of the BME Pact, Sadar Uddin and heard speeches from County Chair Vali Patel, the Mayoress of Hyndburn and leader of the Council County Councillor Hazel Harding.

The evening included a good mixture of entertainment reflecting the cultural richness of the BME communities within Lancashire.

Leader of Lancashire County Council, County Councillor Mrs Hazel Harding said:

Hazel Harding"As Leader of the Council I have been privileged to watch the emergence of the PACT and the working together of the partner organisations. Each separate organisation has its own role and remit but as representatives of the black and minority ethnic communities of Lancashire they have many issues in common.

“Their voices on issues and concerns will be stronger if raised together in harmony, and Lancashire and its people can only benefit if we celebrate diversity together."

Photographs from the launch event can be seen here.
